To get vaccinated or not? The roll out of the Covid vaccines came too late for me. As I read to news and see the public opinion polls about getting vaccinated, the fact that as many as 40 percent of Utahns either are unsure about getting vaccinated or say they won’t get vaccinated. My sister in law and daughter were both anti-vaccine. As I shared by daily fight to survive with them, they provided words and prayers of encouragement. My struggles helped convince them that getting the vaccine was the right decision for them but also to protect those around them. One of the greatest risks of covid transmission are those that are asymptotic. Vaccination would mitigate those risks. The photo was sent to me by my sister in law the day she got vaccinated. The next day she texted me she had the best night sleep every. I know some will use the word freedom to defend their decision to not get vaccinated. As a soldier and military commander with 41 years of service, trust me when I say freedom is not free. It comes with great responsibility and is founded in great sacrifices. It is about protecting the rights and privilege if the innocent and not just ourselves. Because I and other covid survivors did not have access to the vaccines, we are our families now have an uncertain future and a recovery that could take years. Is the risk worth it?
